A nurse career involves taking care of different patients and assisting doctors in treatment delivering, tissue and blood sampling, records keeping and many other important tasks. Depending on their specialty and the position they occupy and the hospital or clinic they work for,  nurses receive different salaries which also reflect their competence. Besides being divided by specialties, nurse careers are also divided by personal qualifications such as practitioner, registered or forensic.

As per Department of Labor data, a nurse could be paid with a nurses salary which reflects a range between $33 per hour and in some cases much higher. As well, most of them also benefit from a higher payment for overtime, profit sharing and various bonuses. All these gathered highlight a nurses salary between $50,000 and $70,000 annually with the overall average being $67,700 per year.

However, this statistic strictly reflects an average salary per nurse per year. Many health industries and popular employers are paying more than the average rate. For example, the most popular industries pay about $23.53 - $32.01 per hour in General Healthcare, $23.64 - $32.22 per hour in Hospitals and $24.40 - $33.41 per hour in Acute Care. However, the highest average rate per hour is about $36. Besides the previous statistics, the nurses salary depends on years of experience. Most of the times, the more experience a nurse has the higher her salary is. Even more, the bonuses are also more consistent. For example, an experienced neonatal nurse could earn a salary which ranges between $65,000 and $95,000.

Psychiatric nurses are paid with a nurses salary around $40,000 up to $50,000 annually. However, these figures can increase even more once the nurses gain more experience and additional training. A pediatric nurse, who is working with children and have more responsibilities, could earn approximate $75,000 up to $100,000 per year while a neonatal nurse earns about $80,000. As well, a registered nurse career is considered one of the top careers in US. The median salary for a registered nurse is about $85,000 up to a top salary of $113,000. The highest pay is for anesthetists who receive salaries which range between $157,000 and $214,000 per year.

Additionally, the gaps between salaries are represented by various other factors such as responsibilities, geographical location, additional training required and individual education acquired by the person in cause. Aside from the salary aspect, nurse career is a very rewarding job as, next to doctors, the nurses obtain great personal satisfactions, future growth and job security while bringing great benefits to our society.
